$34,300  OTF Community Building Grant – Operating Stream

September 23 2022

Mount Hope – This past year, the Catholic Youth Organization (C.Y.O.) received a $34,300 operational grant from the Community Building Fund at the Ontario Trillium Foundation to maintain our office operations at Camp Marydale and Camp Brebeuf. The project time frame is September 2021 to October 2022 and will give the C.Y.O. the opportunity to maintain operations by supporting the salary of two bookkeeping positions.

This investment by the Ontario Trillium Foundation allows the C.Y.O. to continue operating facilities and deliver programs for Ontarians by hiring specialized personnel to maintain viability and ensure sustainability of the organization.

“Our organization is incredibly fortunate and grateful to receive this funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, this grant has made it possible to keep accurate records this year, during a time that has been especially challenging for the C.Y.O. It has been integral for the delivery of our programs in 2021 and for delivering on our mission of serving youth in the community” says John Spatazzo, Executive Director of the C.Y.O.

The C.Y.O. strives to break down barriers for youth to participate in recreation programs and camps whether they be physical, social, or financial. In a typical year, the C.Y.O. creates hundreds of jobs and volunteer opportunities for the Hamilton community. Many families rely on our services to provide their children with meaningful summer camp experiences and enriching athletic opportunities. We recognize the importance of providing opportunities for play and physical activity to improve the overall wellbeing and growth of an individual. The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations.
