Good Food is for Sharing

Our Marydale Park Learning Garden is now thriving!

As we head into August the first loads of green peppers, tomatoes, zucchini and cabbage are being gathered.

Our goal is to make the fruits of our Learning Garden available to as many people as possible, and to remind everyone of the abundance that lies beneath our feet in the soil, the sun, the land, and the water.

This is what we dropped off at the Ancaster Community Services Food Bank this week. Zucchini (big!), Pattypan Squash (very sweet), Green Peppers, Cabbage.

The Learning Garden is a place where we can work together to see the goodness and the potential for sharing labour and reaping the results.

It is also a developing feature of our C. Y. O. Outdoor Education program. The new Learning Garden is attracting a community of interested volunteers who have worked to bring everything together.

“Being able to offer fresh produce to clients is very important to us here at ACS. Also, the need in Ancaster continues to grow and donations like this one greatly help us keep up with the demand,” says Michelle Murphy, Marketing Manager for Ancaster Community Services.
