C.Y.O. Welcomes New Executive Director

I am delighted to share the exciting news of the New Executive Director of the Catholic Youth Organization of the Diocese of Hamilton. (C.Y.O.)

On behalf of the C.Y.O. Board of Directors we are excited to announce the 5th Executive Director of the Catholic Youth Organization of the Diocese of Hamilton will be Brett Martin.

After a 38-year career as a dedicated employee of the Catholic Youth Organization of the Diocese of Hamilton including 18 years as the Executive Director, I have announced my retirement effective January 1, 2025.

It has been a privilege and an honour to serve the C.Y.O. and all the young people associated with the agency. I can proudly say that it is time for me to step down and move to the next chapter.

Please allow me to share with you a little more about Brett Martin.

Brett is no stranger to C.Y.O. Brett has had the privilege of over 20 years of experience with the C.Y.O. in many capacities; as a participant, a spectator, a volunteer, as well as a seasonal staff member. Brett has mentored and facilitated many leadership development programs within the C.Y.O. over his years of involvement.

Born and raised in Hamilton Brett has had a significant impact in this community, he has been heavily involved with his school and parish community. Brett is an alumnus of the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board and holds a degree in Criminology from the University of Windsor. Brett brings extensive experience in government relations, project management, community outreach and fundraising. His network building skills will be an asset to the position of C.Y.O. Executive Director.

Once again, it comes with extreme delight that we welcome Brett Martin as the 5th  Executive Director of the Catholic Youth Organization of the Diocese of Hamilton.

Since 1958, the C.Y.O. has been blessed with the service of 4 Executive Directors:

  • Father Kyran Kennedy 1958 – 1966

  • Tom Gallagher 1966 – 1995

  • Peter Rosser 1995 – 2007

  • John Spatazzo 2007 – 2025

The staff and the Board of Directors of the C.Y.O. sincerely welcome Brett and are excited for his leadership to continue to move C.Y.O. in a positive direction within the community and beyond.

Yours,

John J. Spatazzo

C.Y.O. Executive Director
